Alfie Barker

Alfie is a British writer and director from Leeds who has been making films since the age of 11. His work shines light on social stories that are normally centered around community. With over 70 official selections, and 25 awards, Alfie has been recognized by the likes of Danny Boyle, Andrew MacDonald and Shane Meadows. He has recently been traveling around the world as a way to build on his life experience and further improve his script work. This is his second project with producer Daniella Rice, and the first of many with Charley Packham - a professional bond which will last many years.

His BFI-funded short HANGING ON was nominated for the Best Short Film Award at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), long-listed for a BIFA, which went onto screen at BFI LFF, winning Best British Short Award at both Encounters and Aesthetica. 

His short HALF WAY starring Sameena Jabeen Ahmed, premiered and won Best British Short at Leeds International Film Festival. He is a previous BFI Future Film Award winner, Sundance Ignite Finalist and Berlinale Talent 2024. 

He is currently developing his debut feature, his projects have been selected for the prestigious TIFF Filmmaker Lab, Le Groupe Ouest’s LIM: Less Is More (renowned European screenwriting programme) and Creative UK’s ShortFLIX: a scheme for under-represented voices.
