Anthony A. Anderson

Anthony A. Anderson is a filmmaker, actor, writer and producer who grew up in the Anacostia neighborhood of Southeast Washington, D.C. He developed an early love of storytelling and performance, participating in talent shows in his youth in the 2400 block of Stanton Road SE.

In 2009 he launched the web-soap-opera series Anacostia (web series)—which he created, writes, directs, produces and stars in—drawing inspiration from his upbringing in the East-of-the-River community. Wikipedia The show has been distributed widely (including on YouTube and Amazon Video) and garnered industry recognition including Emmy nominations.

He founded his production company, Southeast Boy Productions, to support his vision of telling stories rooted in his community and perspective. Anthony is a testament to turning local roots into creative agency—using his early experiences in Anacostia to build a career behind and in front of the camera.
