Filmmaking Program
Open to high school students (ages 14-18), this five-week intensive will guide you through the full film-production pipeline: from concept and script, to shooting and post-production. In this course, you wll form production teams, experiment with camera and sound techniques, editing methods, and finish with a public screening of your short film. Whether you’re just discovering the power of the lens or aiming to polish your storytelling chops, this course gives you the tools and community to bring your vision into focus.

Pricing
The course is free of charge for all participant except for the application fees.
Application fee for DC residents is $75.
Application fee for anyone living outside of DC is $95.
About the Summer 2026 Filmmaking Program
Are you ready to start an exciting filmmaking journey this summer? If you are a high school student aged 14-18 who loves storytelling, join us for a five-week film production course that will improve your filmmaking skills.
In this course, you will learn about the entire filmmaking process. You will brainstorm ideas, write a script, shoot with professional equipment, and handle post-production. Work with other aspiring filmmakers, try out new camera techniques, and explore sound design. Learn how to edit your footage to create a short film that you can showcase at a public screening.

Who can apply?
In order to participate, applicants must prove to be between 14–18 years old.
No experience required. We can accommodate beginners and those with experience. You must attend 75% of the course to receive a Certificate of Completion and to be listed as Crew on a project. So taking a one week vacation is fine but please do not sign up in you know you will miss a lot of the course. This is not a drop-in experience.
Selection & Fee Payment
Our team will review applications upon reception. Applicants will be informed of our selection decision within a week after submitting the application.
Notices of selection will come with instructions to pay the registration fee. In order to confirm admission to the program, we ask all selected students to pay the fee promptly.
