I Am Not Broken is a poetic, hand-drawn animated short that explores the inner world of young people living with physical and emotional insecurities. Rendered in delicate pencil lines against a textured paper background, the film follows a series of children who each confront their reflection—metaphorically and literally—through the fragile surface of a cracked mirror.
As the narration unfolds in rhythmic, confessional verse, the visuals evoke vulnerability: bruised figures, trembling hands, distorted reflections, and wings that never take flight. Each child embodies a different struggle—disability, anxiety, alienation—but through the repetition of the phrase “I am not broken,” their voices merge into a collective affirmation of resilience and self-acceptance.
The film transforms pain into poetry, using minimalist animation to mirror the raw honesty of its narration. In just a few minutes, I Am Not Broken becomes a powerful meditation on identity, self-image, and the quiet strength of those who continue to stand, imperfect but unbroken.
I am not broken and that is why i cannot be fixed but I am not broken and that is why I am still standing here today.
