Abril Garcia

Abril Garcia is an emerging filmmaker from Catalonia, Spain, known for her work in youth-driven short films. She co-directed Little Changes (2024), a 2-minute, 32-second short created by second-ESO students at Nou Patufet High School in Barcelona. The film explores the idea that “small changes can prevent great catastrophes,” highlighting the impact of individual actions on broader social and environmental outcomes. Alongside co-directors Marc Jaen and Martina Navarro, Garcia helped guide a team of young student filmmakers through the creative process, demonstrating her commitment to collaborative storytelling and educational filmmaking.

Little Changes has been recognized for its inspirational message and quality, winning the Youth (Under 18) category at the 2024 Films for the Forest Film Festival. The project showcases Garcia’s focus on socially conscious themes and her ability to work with young talent to create meaningful, impactful narratives. As a filmmaker, she exemplifies the potential of educational and participatory cinema, blending creativity, mentorship, and environmental awareness in her emerging body of work.
